But de l'étude

To evaluate the near and distance visual acuity outcomes of patients that had an implantation of an Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) Intra-ocular lens (IOL) targeting between +0.00D and -0.50D.

Méthode

Patients underwent cataract surgery in both eyes with an implantation of a diffractive EDOF IOL (Tecnis Symfony and Symfony toric, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.). The dioptric power of the IOLs used was calculated using optical coherence tomography based biometry (IOL Master 700, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG) and an IOL targeting between +0.00D and -0.50D was chosen. The uncorrected and corrected distance and near visual acuity were measured at 3 months postoperatively.

Résultats

Mean uncorrected and corrected visual acuity values will be presented. The majority of the patients reported an excellent near and intermidiate vision while maintaining a satisfactory distance visual acuity.

Conclusions

Choosing an EDOF IOL with a target between +0.00D and -0.50D instead of +0.00 and +0.50 could be an effective option in one or both eyes of patients valuing near and intermediate vision.
